Journal Policy
The journal adheres to the policy of information openness and accessibility of authors' publications, with articles being published on the journal’s website in full-text access in three languages.
The Legalitas scientific journal is aimed at both Kazakhstani and international scholars working on the development of legal science.
The journal features articles discussing the most pressing issues of legal science and research results in the field of law.
Journal's Objective:
To discuss the results of scientific research, address current issues in law, highlight emerging and relevant directions in legal science, and facilitate the exchange of ideas among the scientific community.
Journal's Tasks:
- Publication of articles and reviews reflecting the results of original scientific research, theoretical and experimental studies that illuminate the current state of specific branches of legal science;
- Exchange of views on various legal science issues between Kazakhstani and foreign researchers;
- Promotion of the scientific achievements of Kazakhstani scholars within both national and global scientific communities;
- Discovery and support of young scientific talent;
- Information support of priority scientific research and popularization of progressive scientific ideas;
- Collaboration with and invitation to leading foreign scholars and practitioners to participate in publications and peer review.
Journal's Thematic Focus:
The journal covers a broad range of current issues in legal science, encompassing all branches of Kazakhstan's and international jurisprudence.
Publication Conditions:
Legalitas is published four times a year.
The journal accepts articles that have not been previously published by the author(s) in any other format (print, electronic, or other open sources), written in Kazakh, Russian, or English, and aligned with the journal's thematic focus and manuscript submission requirements.
The corresponding author (appointed from the author group if there are two or more co-authors) must submit the manuscript at least one month prior to the publication of the next issue.
Authors must submit original work that has not been previously published elsewhere. Authors are responsible for the accuracy, novelty, and validity of their research findings. During the review process and after publication, authors are prohibited from submitting the manuscript to another journal for publication.
Type of Peer Review:
All articles submitted to the editorial office undergo mandatory blind peer review.
The responsible editor checks the article’s alignment with the journal’s profile, its compliance with formatting requirements, and then sends it for review to a specialist with the relevant academic degree, qualifications, and research experience closely related to the article’s subject matter.
The review process is "double-blind": the author does not know the identity of the reviewer, and vice versa. The author receives the review without the reviewer's signature, name, position, or workplace.
Plagiarism and Borrowing:
The Legalitas editorial board checks manuscripts for compliance with formatting requirements and conducts plagiarism checks using an anti-plagiarism system subscribed to by the university.
Only original manuscripts or those that pass the plagiarism check with a minimum originality of 60% are forwarded for further peer review. If a manuscript does not meet the journal's formatting requirements or is not original according to the plagiarism check, it will be returned to the author for revisions and resubmission for editorial review.
Open Access Policy:
The Legalitas journal provides open access to its content on its official website, ensuring wider informational access to the journal within the global scientific community.
The journal's website also provides essential information for authors and readers about the journal's activities: publication conditions, manuscript submission and formatting rules, journal formation and peer review procedures, publication ethics, details about the editorial board, and contact information for the managing editor and technical editor.
Confidentiality Policy:
Members of the editorial board of Legalitas do not disclose information about manuscripts under consideration to third parties, except to designated reviewers. The editorial board also does not disclose reviewer information to authors or other individuals.
The behavior standards and norms for all participants in the publication process (authors, editorial board members, reviewers, and publishers) are based on the publication ethics of Alikhan Bokeikhan University’s scientific journals.
