Protection of citizens' rights in criminal proceedings: new challenges and reforms in Kazakhstan
Abstract
The article considers the strengthening of human rights in the criminal process of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the context of international standards, such as the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. The focus is on systemic measures to prevent unreasonable harassment, democratize the judicial system and simplify the judicial process, the introduction of digital technologies and online broadcasts. It also reflects significant reforms, including the creation of cassation courts and the expansion of jury participation. Measures are being considered to simplify the filing of civil appeals and the active involvement of citizens in the prevention of offenses. The importance of harmonizing the role of the courts and the development of alternative dispute resolution methods is emphasized. The article also discusses measures aimed at improving law enforcement practice and protecting the rights of citizens in the face of growing complaints about the actions of law enforcement agencies and illegal actions of banks.
