Legal Culture of Society: Essence, Contemporary Challenges and Conditions of Progress
Abstract
The article deals with the essence of legal culture at the present stage of society development from the position of sociological approach. The author substantiates the priority role of the state in this issue on the example of foreign countries, emphasizes the incorrectness of understanding legal culture only as a person's education and knowledge of his rights and legal duties.
Based on the relevant conclusions, the author notes such a negative trend in most post-Soviet countries as the growth of nihilistic attitudes among the population and the decline in the level of mass legal consciousness. This state of affairs is characterized by the assumption by the state of gaps in providing institutional, cognitive, humanistic, communicative and normative functions of legal culture. In this regard, a number of organizational measures are proposed to create the conditions necessary for progress.
